So, you want to be a personal trainer. Where do you start? For many, it can be daunting to set out on the first few steps of a career in personal training, due to the huge volume of knowledge that you’ll need to have at your disposal. When you’re just getting started, the amount of time required to learn everything can be off-putting, but it doesn’t have to be that way.
If you’ve got a clear vision of your life as a PT already, then Onfit Training College’s PT Direct Pathway will help you start your career faster. How? Keep reading to find out more.
About the PT Direct Pathway
PT Direct combines the key aspects of the Certificate III in Fitness with the full Certificate IV in Fitness, to give you a thorough and broad understanding of everything you’ll need to be a great personal trainer. The curriculum includes the full Certificate IV in Fitness, as well as all entry requirements within the Certificate III, so you won’t have to worry about any gaps in your knowledge as a PT. At the end of the course, you’ll have a nationally accredited and recognised qualification, allowing you to put your studies into practice right away.
The right choice for you
So what’s the difference between our PT Direct Pathway and the full Certificate III and IV in Fitness Bundle? The key difference is that with the full Certificate III and IV in Fitness you’re qualified to run Group Exercise Classes whereas with PT Direct, this isn’t the case. So if you’re not looking to become a Group Exercise Instructor, then the PT Direct will most likely be the best fit for you. Of course, you’re always able to come back later to complete these units at a later time if your career goals change.
Best of all, with the PT Direct Pathway you’ll have a reduced workload, so you’ll take less time to get qualified, putting your career on the fast track. This is very important, regardless of where you are in your career. If you’re young and just starting out, you’ll get a valuable boost that allows you to start working sooner. On the other hand, if you’re slightly older and have decided to change careers, perhaps even from another facet of the health and fitness sector, you’ll be able to make the transition quickly and get into the field that really calls to you.
PT Direct works so well because it covers such a broad range of topics.
Fast track, full knowledge
While the quick pace of PT Direct is very appealing, it’s key to remember that rushing through things just for the sake of it is never a good idea. This is especially true in personal training, where you’ll be directly responsible for the progress and safety of your clients. To make sure that you’re always operating in a safe environment, you need to be equipped to handle anything and everything. PT Direct works so well because it covers such a broad range of topics, despite the shorter timeframe.
Some of the more specialised subjects include training clients under the age of 18, supporting healthy eating and incorporating exercise science principles into training programs. With the PT Direct Pathway, you’ll be given full confidence that you can handle any unusual situations or client requests that pop up.
Finally, as with many of the courses at Onfit Training College, we place a strong emphasis on the business and management side of things. Any successful PT will no doubt tell you, this is absolutely crucial, especially if you want to own your own PT company and to be your own boss moving forward. As part of the Certificate IV in Fitness, the PT Direct curriculum covers everything from legal requirements to marketing your business, helping to ensure your success both inside and outside the gym environment.
Ultimately, we understand that many people have a passion for fitness and personal training. The best way to nurture that passion and make yourself into a great trainer is to be equipped with all the right knowledge, and get out into the workforce as soon as possible. After all, nothing is quite as good as real world experience.
