Nate has taken to his role at Onfit like a fish to water! As part of our education team, we absolutely love the enthusiasm Nate brings to educating and supporting our students! We thought it was about time we got to know a little more about our newest addition to the team!
LET’S GET TO KNOW NATE…
WHAT LEAD YOU TO WORKING IN THE FITNESS & EDUCATION INDUSTRY?
“I have always been involved in and with sport and have always taken great pride in personal health and fitness. Throughout school biology was my number one subject that I just nailed without trying due to my passion for the human body and everything else that lives in that space. I find humans fascinating and each of our own individual abilities to do so many unique things. I have a special ability that I have become confident to speak about which is being able to engage any audience when speaking about any topic I hold great passion for, I can bring people together and I also hold empathy as one of my key attributes. I love to be part of change, change that is impactful and meaningful and change that has longevity, so this is why I have survived 15 years in the fitness games.”
WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST-EVER JOB?
“Packing shelves and working behind as a cashier as the only male in a small deli/IGA type convenient store at 14 years old. Mum was all over working from the legal age of 14 years and 9 months haha and not starting a day later.”
WHAT STUDIES HAVE YOU DONE YOURSELF?
“Well, I’m actually a qualified Pastry Chef as this was my first apprenticeship straight out of school as I was still not sure on my path and was a little lost to be completely honest, but I stuck it out and have that under the belt. I then went onto become a Remedial Therapist working alongside Chiropractors and Osteopaths for a few years which become the gateway into the health and fitness industry where Personal Training was the next qualification which I stayed with for over a decade before I wanted to explore education and my Diploma of Fitness.”
WHAT DO YOU FEEL IS THE MOST REWARDING ASPECT OF YOUR CAREER?
“The most rewarding I would have to say is sharing life changing moments and emotions and really embracing that feeling and knowing the positive influence we have as fitness professionals on others.”
WHAT DOES ‘A DAY IN THE LIFE’ OF BEING AN EDUCATION TEAM MEMBER AT ONFIT LOOK LIKE?
“Extremely busy and rewarding and as I am still the new kid on the block, I’m still feeling my way through but loving the team I’m now a part of 100%. I run an outdoor group fitness business and full-time employed here at Onfit so the entire career I’m immersed in is absolutely everything I love. I feel connected more then ever so it’s very exciting I must say “
WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT YOUR JOB?
“Sharing my enthusiasm with others wanting to share a career in this space, motivating and inspiring others gives me huge amounts of joy.”
WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO IN YOUR DOWNTIME TO RELAX?
“Relaxing to me is not what most consider to be relaxing, I honestly struggle to sit still and when I do I’m always doing something but for me to feel revitalised and refreshed it’s not sleeping in or movies / Netflix it’s me with my family in nature camping away from the noise, that to me is BLISS.”
WHERE’S YOUR FAVOURITE PLACE YOU’VE BEEN OR SOMEWHERE YOU’VE ALWAYS WANTED TO TRAVEL TO?
“I have travelled a lot and my wildest memories are from Africa, India, Nepal and many other parts of Asia far too many but I did white water raft the second largest rapids in the world and shared the rapids with Crocs as we sent ourselves flying down stream, it was insane!”
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE INDULGENCE OR COMFORT FOOD?
“The darkest chocolate possible, my rule is if it’s under 85% Cocoa I won’t eat it as real chocolate needs to be strong.”
