Special Interest Course
The Risks of Drugs in Sport
This short course has been designed to educate fitness professionals, sports coaches, athletes or parents
of athletes in the risks and dangers of performance enhancing drugs. Throughout this course many of the
common performance enhancing drugs are examined, and their effect, side effects and consequences of
use is explained in detail.
The following performance enhancing drugs are examined in this course:
- Anabolic steroids
- Erythropoietin (EPO)
- Human Growth Hormone
- Insulin-like Growth Factor (IGF-1)
- Hormone Antagonists and Mofulators
As well as information about the above performing enhancing drugs, the course also provides an insight
into ASADA, the World anti-doping authority and the Olympic standards and drug testing requirements.
This course is delivered and assessed online.
The duration of this course is 6 months. A certificate of completion will be issued upon successful
