Introducing Virtual Classrooms
Here at Onfit Training College we understand that technology is more deeply integrated into our daily lives than ever before, and that education is rapidly evolving alongside this trend. With people increasingly looking for fast, convenient, and engaging ways to learn, the stage was set for a more personal and interactive learning experience … so we introduced virtual classrooms.
We want to make learning as accessible and flexible as possible for our students. We know their lives are busy, and they can feel pulled in many different directions, so we decided to offer them more opportunity to make education a priority without sacrificing their livelihoods and other important commitments.
With the introduction of virtual classrooms, we offer our Certificate III and IV Fitness students the chance to fast track their progress with access to live tutorials provided by our experienced tutors. Students can simply book into a tutorial, pop on a headset (provided by Onfit) and be transported to their virtual classroom, in virtual reality.
This can be done from anywhere with an internet connection, so our fitness students are loving the versatility that VR learning provides them while still being able to enjoy the intimacy and immersiveness of a classroom setting. Here’s what we know our students love about VR:
- Convenience & Flexibility
Whether you’re a new grad with a side hustle or in the process of making a career switch, your education should work for you. We also understand you may want the benefits of a classroom experience, but barriers (transportation, childcare, distance to name a few), can be detrimental to attending classes in person. With VR, you don’t need to battle traffic and other barriers to get to the training centre … we bring it to you. Our virtual classrooms give you the ability to access tutorials from your home, office, or even a coffee shop – wherever you learn best. You’ll plug into a classroom with students around the country, so you’re still learning alongside others while getting personalised attention from your instructor. Even if you miss a tutorial at it’s scheduled time, you can still catch up on your own time without falling behind.2. Memory Retention
Studies show students who are engaged in their learning do better on assessments. The amount of material absorbed through a stimulating VR experience has proven to be higher for many students than just viewing online or text-based learning materials. A virtual classroom encourages retention by offering students an immersive learning experience and displaying some truly incredible concepts. Imagine looking inside a 3D brain to watch the synapses firing! In a regular classroom environment, students can have trouble engaging for long periods (hello, smartphones!), but with VR, you’re stimulated for the entire class duration.3. Increased Participation & Feedback
While traditional classes work great for some students, we know that others find it hard to participate. With virtual tutorials, advanced interactivity features allow students to engage with instructors and one another in many ways, such as the chat and comment features. Students who may not feel comfortable speaking up in a large classroom setting may feel more at ease on this platform. These same features also allow for more feedback in real-time. Instructors have tools to ensure everyone is understanding the material, and students are encouraged to signal if they’re ready to move on to the next concept.
Still not convinced? Check out what one of our Certificate III Fitness students, Aimee-Lee, has to say about her experience with VR!
We understand that everyone learns differently, so here at Onfit we want you to learn in the way that suits you best as an individual. So, whether that’s through online reading material, in-class, VR, or a combination of these methods, you can be confident we’ll find a solution for your fitness studies.
We’re proud to be one of the most adaptable Australian RTOs in the business. You’re never just a number to us, and we’re committed to helping you actually learn, instead of just moving you through the program.
