This year, I want you to win.
I probably want you to win more than you want to win.
I dream of the day that you let go of the shit you have been dragging with you over the years.
Like holding onto an empty cup at a party, no one is going to offer you something new because you are too scared of letting go of what you have, thinking that nothing else will come.
You have to let go before the universe offers you something new.
After working with thousands, I have never seen someone make it without jumping.
At some point, you are going to have to jump.
But I want to offer you three things that make the jump safer and more secure:
One audacious goal
Let’s call this your Big Boppa.
One guiding principle
Think a belief or value you need to achieve that Boppa.
One instant actionable
An action you can take right away toward this goal.
Because the reality is this.
You need trajectory and traction.
You need to know exactly where you’re going, and what you need to do to get there.
Once you have that figured out, the maths is simple.
Wake up.
Think like the version of you who already has that goal.
Take the daily action required to move in its direction.
I know I am oversimplifying it.
But that’s because when you strip it all away, this is what is left.
How you need to think.
What you need to do.
Truly, your whole identity needs to transform into the person who lives your goals as their normal, daily default way of being.
You can’t have last year’s identity for next year’s goals.
You gotta change, baby.
More on that later.
For now, you need to know where you’re going, how you need to think, and what your first action is.
An Example
Goal (Big Boppa):
To be the most present, effective leader with my family and my 30 employees.
Principle:
The more difficult conversations I have, the fewer difficult conversations I have.
Actionable:
Identify and register for a course in difficult conversations and leadership.
Bonus: message the person that comes to mind when I think about difficult conversations and set up a meeting.
Don’t overcomplicate it.
Action is the antidote to anxiety.
Keep going.
If you want to do more work like this with me, you know where to find me.
Big love,
Dx
P.S. You can perform at your peak. You just need to get out of your own way.
