Recognition of Prior Skills and Learning
If you feel you may have achieved the skills and/or knowledge relating to any of the content in the Nationally Recognised Qualifications that we offer, then looking into getting Recognition of Prior Learning or a Credit Transfer may be of interest to you.
What is Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)?
There is a range of ways that someone can learn and RPL allows us to recognise this. Through an RPL application, our assessor will use any relevant evidence that you have to assess your knowledge and skills. Your learning could be formal, such as an accredited qualification, informal such as experience you gained from work or non-formal such as a non-accredited qualification.
What is a Credit Transfer (CT)?
If you have completed a formal qualification that has covered any of the same unit/s of study as one of our courses, then your successful result can be transferred to another course, which would eliminate the need for you to re-complete this requirement. This process is completed by matching competencies between qualifications and ensuring that these outcomes are equivalent.
What is Recognition of Current Competency (RCC)?
If you feel that you have the skills and knowledge to cover a unit in the course, but don’t have any documentation or proof to show, then Recognition of Current Competency could be for you. Our assessors can have a discussion with you to see how your knowledge and skills can be measured and assessed against the course requirements.
What’s next?
If you feel that RPL, RCC or a CT may be right for you, then have a chat with us and we can talk you through your options, answer any questions you have and let you know where to go from here.
How do I go about completing a Credit Transfer, Recognition of Prior Learning or Recognition of Current Competency application?
If you would like to go ahead with an application, contact us by submitting an enquiry, or call us on 1300 557 637.
One of our Career Advisors can discuss the process and associated costs with you, and if you’re ready to go ahead, your Career Advisor will send you an RPL kit, giving you the step-by-step instructions to submit your application and receive formal recognition from your previous education and experience.
